InPress: In ELLE thanks to Eva Bartels

Hahahahaha....Some of you might already have noticed: we were mentioned in the ELLE magazine that was part of our goodie bags at the Scout Night Out #2/ opening of our new Haarlemmerdijk store! It was so crazy to come home, start flicking through the magazine and then stumble upon a picture of a very familiar coat. Turns out: in the editorial featuring Eva Bartels (Dutch creative super talent and an overall cool chick) she mentions our Amsterdam store where she bought this eccentric piece. Honestly, we did not know, this is pure coincidence and what a fun coincidence..... Can you believe it?

EventReport: Dutch Model Event

Hi there! Last weekend was the dutch model event at the fair in Utrecht! There we were (JUTKA & Riska) with a very cute mini shop with sales, and we did of course take part in a great fashion show! It was a huge success, especially for the real fashion divas! During the fashion show we did see a little of our vintage, new and own design collection. Here are a few snapshots from last weekend!

Meet our Staff: Joshua Enker

photo © Peter Stigter

Another one of our inspiring staff members, this time a relatively new addition to our Amsterdam team: Joshua Enker. Joshua's great work ethic does not only surface at our Amsterdam stores, but you might have already encountered it at Joshua's graduation show last year at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Therefore it comes as no surprise that the guy in the picture above is not Joshua, but a model who wears one of the latest designs. Joshua created the design above for the Floriade Masterclass he recently took part in. Since a few months The Floriade started working with well known Dutch fashion designer Jan Taminiau. To celebrate this new collaboration the Floriade organized a masterclass in which only 12 highly talented young fashion designers could participate.

The focus of the masterclass was on durable design under the theme 'Nature Extends'. What are the possibilities to work eco-friendly as a fashion designer? What possibilities and problems does this green approach encounter and is this something you as a young designer feel you want to relate to?
Challenges we are all facing especially in the fast moving field of fashion... Lucky us, we can always ask Joshua for some tips and tricks ;-)

InTown: 9/10 June Dutch Model Event Jaarbeurs Utrecht

Saturday 9 and Sunday the 10th of June, the Dutch Model Event will take place in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, The Netherlands and we will participate! This will be our very first time popping up in Utrecht, we can't wait....
 http://www.dutchmodelevent.nl/modellen-nieuws/39-jutka-riska-zoeken-modellen

Saturday the event will run from 11:00 till 17:00. Sunday we start an hour earlier: we love to welcome you any time between 10:00-17:00. At the event we will have a fashion show with items from our latest collection combined with new and vintage pieces. Besides, you can come over and shop on the spot in our little pop-up store store filled with bags, clothing and accessories. Bullet Models will join us and will be scouting models for our show. Ooooh so excited! We really hope there will be lots of beautiful fashionista's around.

The whole event is packed full of models scouts (will the new Doutzen Kroes please stand up?), hair and make-up artists, pop-up stores (like us!) and anything else you can think of when it comes to fashion and style. So if you are in for an exciting Saturday or Sunday and you want to get away from the rain, this is definitely a great indoor destination. See you in Utrecht?

Meet our Staff: Book launch Ilse

If you ever wondered what is the best way to keep a store running smooth and keep the energy alive, open and inspiring? It all boils down to your staff. That's why we would like to introduce some of our greatly appreciated staff members. Since it appears that inspiring people create and equally cool and creative atmosphere, we'd like to introduce Ilse Wanten to you. Our Antwerp staff member Ilse, who is what we can fairly say a girl of great talents. Ilse combines fashion, style, performance and dance, she is singer and to top that all off she is a writer at heart and the past 7 years she has been working on her first publication. The book is called 'ZIEL IN ZICHT' (in English something like 'Soul (with)in sight') and it is available here

We recently attended Ilse's official book launch. The launch party took place at STORM at the new museum MAS in Antwerp. With the help of the rest of the Antwerp team (Ans and Noemi), live-performances by The Flying Horseman, Turkish music specialist Hilde de Clercq
and a '70-'80s dj-set of style-icon BiBi it turned out to be a great night. Lots of books were signed and Ilse could not have looked happier with this incredible accomplishment. Here are some photo's of the launch party.
And for the Dutchies: here's a litttle interview with the writer herself:
28 april j.l. stelde Ilse Wanten haar eerste boek voor. Een levenswerk.
Ilse : 'Een levenswerk?

signed by the writer ;-)
