InWindow: Amsterdam apples

The birds are singing, men ogle, we take fresh colors out of our closet and the temperature rises: spring is on its way!  After such a cold (but short) Dutch winter, we are so glad to feel it is finally getting warmer. The warm winter jackets are slowly disappearing, and colors are brought back to life. SPRING - flowers, buzzing bee’s, easter eggs and a soft sun breaking through. Unfortunately, the sun seems a little hesitant to share its’ rays with us. So we had to find another way to get a little warmth in the store at the Bilderdijkstraat ;-)

Therefore we transformed the shop window into a fruit altar a la Stella McCartney. Stella invented the first fruit print, which turned out to be such a great concept that it has been an inspiration for the rest of the fashion world (including yours truly!). Expect to see many of these juicy prints hitting the stores this summer. As you can see we also have a new item in store: a Levi’s jeans short customized with red leather apples on it. You can't exactly take a bite, but you'll look real delicious wearing them!

InTown: @ Shanzai mash-up

Shanzai mash-up: a workshop night by Trash & Treasures and Waag Society (hosted in Fablab Amsterdam). Since we were not able to go and participate ourselves, we asked our intern Hannah to check out the Shanzai mash up and to take loads of pics. It turned out to be a DIY-night extraordinaire... transform any old piece of rubbish and turn it into your personal treasure. Besides customizing clothing, you could also follow a workshop on how to remix and remake tableware, furniture and blankets. There were skilled craftsmen for practical help and mental support and music and drinks to keep the inspiration coming. Hannah had a great night, below a concise visual report. 

We love to customize and to help others discovering the possibilities of mixing and matching with a pair of scissors and some thread, but due to illness and tight schedules, we could not make it this time. Hopefully we can be there for the next issue!

InStore: New arrivals part three

Three times two ladies, good old Lionel got it all wrong ;-). We got to sharing the final part of our new arrivals shoot with you (but we got new stuff entering our store every week!). A bit sad, but I'm pretty sure we will have a new shoot up on the blog before you know it! Liene and Veerle have done a wonderful job walking through a Belgian forest, modeling some of our JUTKA & RISKA limited edition dresses this time. These so-called OSLO dresses are made from original Dries van Noten fabrics and as you can see they totally work as an extremely ladylike and fashionable outdoor look.

These pictures remind me of a French children song I learned in high school...."Promenons nous dans les bois, pendant que le loup... y est?" No worries, no wolves around in this fashion forest. Nothing but two girls with fancy dresses, fun bags and super colorful scarves....

Yes! It's new and it's in our store(s) right now! The vintage pieces are available at our Antwerp store, the rest is available at all other stores as well. Feel like there's a new wave of denim coming our way. And we love it. Especially since it's one of the few materials that comes in so many shades that it looks good on any kind of skin tone/ hair color.
