InSpire: Back to the '20s

Jutka & Riska fashion played a key role in a photoshoot inspired by German expressionist movies from the 30’s. Photographer Anne Beentjes asked us to support her photoshoot with our fashion.
We did, and here you can see the results.

The most well known German expressionst films are ‘Das Kabinet des Dr. Caligari’ (Rober Wiene, 1920) and Nosferatu (F.W. Murnau, 1922). The films had a dark and moody atmosphere that was enhanced by heavy contrast in lighting , large shadows and crooked stylized sets. The actors in the movies played their roles in a theatrical and jerky manner.

Photographer Anne wanted to combine the darkness and strange backgrounds of german expressionist movies with fashion. She found the perfect outfits to match this idea at Jutka & Riska on the Bilderdijk in Amsterdam. Models Liza and Farida worked magic in cooperation with their dramatic shadows. Make-up was done by Maya Aumaj. With dark eyebrowes and lips she emphasized the classic but freaky style of this photoshoot.
